NDATL Records is back with Detroit visionary Reggie Dokes, who serves up a deep and spiritually charged 12″ full of the sort of evocative, expressive sounds that have long been his signature. This one kicks off with ‘Unknown Valley,’ a warm, hypnotic swirl of shimmering chords and vocoded whispers, then ‘Still Exist’ follows with darker textures with a driving, shadowy pulse. On the flip, jazz-tinged exploration defines ‘Soul Searchin’, which is rich in cinematic harmonies, while the title track features saxophonist Skip Pruitt. It’s irresistible, dance-floor-bound meditation.
